Two-player co-op/competition with player 2 being Pac-Man, extra maze varieties, extra game modes all came with the Tengen version but the Namco version is just a straight-up 1-player arcade conversion with none of the extra features found in the Tengen release. Pac-Man, because the Tengen release from 1990 is packed with WAY more features than the Namco version we got in 1993. I have the Tengen version of both but still want the Namco carts to make my collection "more official." People just want the licensed Namco cart more. Namco releases had nothing really different. The Namco versions of both got a very small production run in relation to the Tengen games, so they are legitimately rarer.įunny thing is, Pac-Man got a licensed release by Tengen (so it's not one of those funky black Tengen carts) as well so we actually had 3 versions of NES Pac-Man. Most people interested in these games had already bought the Tengen versions years before.
